Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 (color & sat)

Messing with some of the color and saturation circuits, using plenty of extreme settings just to explore and emphasize the effect. The material is a rough mix that was a bit quiet going in, not trying to master it or find the best limiter settings here.

A lightly sequenced DnB/dub loop through the Solid State Logic Bus , with some tweaking. Analog loop with a Crane Song Hedd Quantum.
Waldorf M - Part II (no talking)

Exploring the Waldorf M. No effects aside from a few seconds into a reverb on one part and a kick and clap in another. No multi patches. Captured by a Burl B2 Bomber and Ableton. Triggered by hand with a Keystep Pro to my left and some midi clips/sequencers in Ableton. Thanks for watching.

First encounter with the Waldorf M just tweaking some presets. Audio is the main outputs captured by a Burl B2 Bomber. No effects aside from a few seconds with a reverb send in Ableton. Triggering was mostly improv with one hand (sorry I'm not much on the keys), arpeggios from a keystep pro, some sequencing and progressions sent from the DAW toward the end. Hello! Help me understand! I bought Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0. I work in Cubase. Why is it that when I turn the output volume down to , the peaks still pass through and a red peak lights up on the channel in Cubase? In software limiters, by reducing the output volume, we protect ourselves from peaks, but in Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0, when we reduce the output level, peaks still pass through?! Is this how it should be or am I missing something? And, another question - does it matter where to install the Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 control plugin itself, on the master channel or on the channel of the track being processed? And, also, when the input and output level knobs are moved to the far left position, the sound, although quiet, still passes through, is it really supposed to be like that? I changed the firmware, read the instructions, but it hasn’t helped yet, the peaks are passing! Thank you in advance!

Sorry boss, rather than waiting a few seconds between every adjustment, I’m setting it up in various ways by changing multiple parameters at my pace, then bypassing.

@@Faithaven thanks man. I actually use it quite regularly in stereo or dual mono. I have another two comps that I typically run in mid side and also just like the SSL style in linked stereo. However, the DEQ section is pretty interesting and effective to use in mid side, so i can’t say I strictly use it one way or the other.

do you put after the bm 2.0 a true peak digital limiter ? if you push it really hard will clip unluckily

No idea what they have been doing at Waldorf, but the M sounds like a cheap version of tyhe MW1/ XT/K. Simple as that. Bite has gone. Fatness has gone. Warmth has gone.
If you hear it in person, you will find that your statement is completely incorrect. The M sounds very 3D like with more warmth and punch than the original microwave and XT.
Please review your goly crosscompeq (with mixbus/examples with vocals)

I'm lucky enough to have one of these and whilst using it for the 2nd or 3rd time, I realised that it's the most beautiful synth I've ever heard. I would have happily sold my other gear to get it. Add a drum machine and a couple of fx and skill and you could create endless tracks of electro to ambient and everything in-between. I love it!

Sorry to be a complete newbie here, but how do you actually hold a note in the Waldorf. Do you need hold function on your midi keyboard or does the Waldorf have a hold function. Very nice sound. This is by far the best demo of the Waldorf M. Thank you..
I am not aware of a desktop synth that has a hold feature. Because it's related to the MIDI data. You need a sequencer or a MIDI keyboard. So, it's up to them. For you might be interesting that the envelopes can have very long release times for super slowly decaying notes.
the arp has a "hold" parameter, but you have to set the time very slow, but fast enough that it actually plays

Thanks Dave. I actually did choose the MBP, and didn’t keep the Bus+, but only because I already have similar ground covered with a Bettermaker Mastering Comp and. Maselec MLA-4. If I didn’t have those it would be a tough decision. The Bus+ is really useful and the compressor has got more vibe and glue than the MBP, but the silk and eq on the RND make it more polished and it can provide a more up front sound which I like. So between the two I’d still have to pick the RND. If it’s worth double the price, I’m not so sure.
